How to pick the right talent for your startup ?

Hiring is a daunting task but hiring for a startup can be back-breaking. A budding company with limited cash flow can not afford to have wrong employees. Therefore, it is utmost important to take decisions wisely and cautiously. You have to have the top talent in order to see your startup grow. Below are some of the wonderful tips to pick right talent for your startup.

Two most important ingredients -Mission and Vision

It is true that in your earliest days, you are not in a position to pay hefty amounts to your employees. Then why top talents will come and work for you. Give them some good reasons to join hands with your organization. Build a company with a mission and a vision that can excite anyone. Share long-term goals to the employees and present the company in the best way possible. Show them you are not here to sell a product or service, you have emerged to bring a change. Do you know what words Steve Job used to convince John Scully, a Pepsi executive to join Apple – “Do you want to sell sugar water for the rest of your life or do you want to come with me and change the world?”

Offer a great place to work

Finding great talent is also possible by word of mouth. If your current employees are satisfied with the working conditions, they will surely spread the word. Be a great place to work then great people would love to work with you. Keep the staff happy and motivated.

Establish brand from day one

If your brand is established, people are more willing to work with you.  A hot new brand with great career opportunities attract top talents. So, market your brand effectively on various social media platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, twitter, google plus, events and tell people why to join you.

Challenging projects

Talented people would like to work on challenging projects, where there is a scope of learning and experimenting. Offer ambitious goals to people and motivate them to realize. Top talents do not want to waste their time on boring and short-term goals.

Do not let your existing talent go

Talented people seek continuous growth, they look to work with talented people. Talented people inspire others and be inspired. When you hold on to your existing talent, it becomes easier to attract more great talent.

Network and be social

Speak about your company, its achievements, its unique goals at events and network constantly. Expand your talent hunt by involving and promoting your company in anyway possible. Speaking platforms offer great opportunities to sell your brand and present your vision effectively. Be in touch with people and establish your presence.

Market your company online

Start a blog and build your brand into a thought leader. Invite guest bloggers and even contribute guest content on relevant sites. Share your story, your experiences and your learning. Talented people love to read and if your writings/words have power, they are bound to get attracted.
